Roy Lichtenstein

Roy Lichtenstein

Roy Lichtenstein (1923-1997) was an pop artist who was one of the leading figures of the art movement along with Andy Warhol and . Lichtenstein's work takes inspiration from comic strips, as well as advertisements.
Lichtenstein's work inspires my images due to his use of halftones which I feel will be a major part of my images in editing, as well as the style of his work with thick black outlines which I want to experiment with how I could use outlines in editing.
This is a poster for the 4th New York film festival, the first thing that stands out is the bright and contrasting colours which draws the eyes attention, the poster is also clear in what it wants to say with text being large and easy to read. The layout of the poster guides the eye, with the first thing a viewer seeing is 'Lincoln Center' and the rest of the text below it, due to the size and the blue background contrasting with the rest of the colours. The eye is then shown the stylised representation of aspects of the festival such as the yellow spotlights and the minimalist New York on the left.

I want my images to have a similar flow to this poster where a viewer sees the oil first with the rest of the image serving to enhance the product and make it seem more appealing and unique.
